Day 0. El Paso, TX to Columbus, NM

This afternoon we rode out of El Paso and headed to Columbus, NM for the night. We didn’t have a ramp to get the bikes out so we drove to the back of a hotel in El Paso and used their rock landscaping to assist. Even got all our gear on and luggage loaded there. If all goes as planned this will be the only hotel night of the trip. We didn’t get in until 5 and we still needed a night to go through gear, tighten bolts and work through mechanical and electrical issues that popped up on the 1 hour plus ride here from El Paso. We found this little 6 room hotel (think it’s the only one in town) a month ago online and booked it. We grabbed a bite to eat across the street at a little diner and just relaxed after that. Today was the easy day compared to what’s to come. We’re both beat and about to call it a night. Want to be up, loaded and on the road early so we can get to the starting point at a decent time.
