Jan 2023 / New Bike / New Adventures!

It’s been a minute since I’ve logged on here and read the old posts. What an amazing trip! Tons of changes have taken place in the last 4 months for me. I moved to WI, picked up another bike and have started to plan out the next big adventure for summer 2023. First, the new ride – 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700. In early September I went to a local Yamaha dealer here in Madison, WI and put my name on the list for this specific bike. I was told they should probably get two of these during CY 2023 and I should expect a call in April or May since I was second on the list. Last week I jumped on the USA Yamaha Motorcycle homepage and started looking at inventory throughout the Midwest. I found one in Des Moines, IA, called them and picked it up. Can’t believe I found one let alone at msrp. This is a medium size adventure bike unlike my other bike which is a dual sport. The WR is basically a street legal dirt bike and performed extremely well last Aug on the Continental Divide Adventure Route. I beat the crap out of it for 2700 miles and I had more injuries than the bike did when it was over. The Tenere is faster, more powerful, and highly customizable. It can do everything the WR can do plus if I wanted to go coast to coast via highway in comfort it can do that as well. I’m going to spend the next few months modifying the Tenere to get it setup for multi week trail motocamping trips. I’m documenting the build on IG under: dirt_devil_t7. Feel free to follow along. Later tonight I’m going to pull the forks off of it and ship to Travis at GoRace Suspension in VA for a major upgrade.

The next trip will be next Aug, have 3-5 people and will start in the SE corner of NV, go north through ID and end at the Canadian border. These routes are part of the NV and ID Backcountry Discovery Route trail systems. More to come as time goes on, but that’s the plan for now. Hit me up if you are interested in coming along! Kevin
